Introducing IFI and Job Description for Event Coordinator:

International Friendships, Inc. is a growing faith-based organization, whose mission is to extend life-changing hospitality and friendship to international college students. Staff at IFI are servant leaders, who love helping students from around the world feel at home on their respective campuses in the U.S. We do this by offering services, such as airport pickups, holiday hosting, temporary housing, conversation partnerships, and social events and trips. The Event Coordinator is a part of the central Ohio team.

Some key traits of the Event Coordinator position are to have great people skills and cross-cultural experience. Our Event Coordinator oversees various activities that relate to international students at universities in central Ohio and will interact often with staff, volunteers, and students. 

Event Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute all major activities, such as Fall trips, Lunar New Year, Annual Banquet, and Summer and Fall events

  • Create and submit annual department budget, track expenses and monitor available funds monthly, and submit budgets and reimbursement requests for OSU funding, as needed, for each event/activity

  • Coordinate prizes, food donations, registrations, and transportation for special events

  • Coordinate and ensure that publications, emails, flyers, and social media postings will effectively communicate with the international student population, local community groups, and other ethnic student organizations

  • Collaborate with campus ministry staff and volunteers on preparation and execution of events; coordinate use or purchase of decorations and materials for events

Qualifications from the Event Coordinator:

  • Adherence to IFI's statement of faith, core values, and policies
  • Well organized with attention-to-detail and ability to complete tasks independently
  • Ability to communicate with diverse populations from different ethnic backgrounds
  • Ability to work successfully in a team
  • Ability to work under stress and be flexible
  • Proficient with technology, including Microsoft Office and Google applications

Education/Experience Required for Event Coordinator:

  • At least one-year experience in planning and executing projects and events

  • Minimum of a Bachelor degree, preferably in Education, Marketing, or Public Administration, or equivalent work experience or certification in Event Planning capacity

  • Experience in cross-cultural ministry

Hours and Pay:

This is a part-time, hourly position for between 20 and 30 hours a week. Work evenings and/or weekends during IFI events is required. Frequent travel locally expected. The pay range is between $12.50 and $15.50 per hour.
